The Wakanda Celebration is the event on everyone’s to-do list this September! Here is what to expect at the Wakanda Celebration taking place on the 4th of September:
Experience the Luangisa Wakanda Wearable Art Show
One of the major highlights of the Wakanda Celebration is the Luangisa Wakanda Wearable Art Show. The Luangisa African Gallery Fashion Collection features clothing and accessories that tell a story to represent African tradition, pride, and heritage. From ethically produced jewelry to magical patterns and textures to powerful colors and artisanally crafted hats, the Wakanda Wearable Art Experience showcases authentic African elegance and royalty. An African Live Band featuring PitsiRa The First, Lesedi Ntsane, Saidou Sangare, Ian Jesse, Fathi Tabaouche, and Yoli Zama will accompany the models as they showcase unique wearable art handmade by artisans in Africa. The Luangisa Wakanda Wearable Art Show starts at 5 pm. Don’t miss it!
Bask in the Joy of Live African Music
In Africa, our culture and community are our biggest pride, and this celebration is designed to uplift and amplify this rich culture and community in the diaspora. From Afrogroove by Kaissa Doumbe to Afrofusion by Shantell Renee, African music’s diverse and vibrant nature will be fully displayed during the Celebration. So, bring your dancing shoes or no shoes at all as we bask in the joy and celebrate the magic of African cultural intersections. We also have a DJ playing African music all day!
Dance! Dance! Dance!
Is it even a celebration of Africa if there is no dancing? This year's festival's line-up of dance performances includes Fusha Dance, RBG Girlz, and many more. So, get ready to experience African dancing like never before. You will feel accessibility to the rich African culture as we transport you to the Motherland with African sounds and dance movements.
