All of our three yard Batiks are produced by women artisans in Tanzania. Batiks are made by brushing hot liquid wax onto a piece of cotton cloth in a desired pattern. The cloth is then dipped into a dye which adheres to all the areas that are not covered by the wax. The wax is then removed and reapplied repeatedly for each color used. This is a tedious time consuming endeavor that yields exceptional art.
Fabric can be used for making authentic clothing, tablecloth covering and bedspreads. The uses of this batik are endless.
