These beautiful Tonga Pattern Painted Baskets are handcrafted and painted by women artisans from the Tonga tribe living in Northern Zimbabwe’s Zambezi Valley.
We work directly with a group of 30 Tonga master craft women to bring you the finest Tonga baskets. These baskets are woven by hand from Ilala palm fibers native to Zimbabwe. Tonga baskets are woven using the over and under style of simple weaving and a 20 inch diameter basket can take around 2 weeks to complete, which provides a sustainable source of income for their families.
Tonga Baskets feature a versatile palette of orange and two variations of natural tan. This gorgeous mix of pattern and artistry make the Tonga baskets an eclectic wall accent for a living room or a bold statement in the foyer.
