It’s Mount Vernon’s ultimate African festival. This year, the Wakanda Celebration brings a great lineup of artists to Traphagen School including PitsRa YaMabala, Tina Kakolaki, The Scrubs Band, Bokandeye African American Dance Theater, and The Revelators Dance Troupe.


Get ready for a transformative experience with non-stop music and live dance performances by these world-class talents!


 In Africa, our culture and community are our biggest pride, and this celebration is designed to uplift and amplify this rich culture and community in the diaspora.

 Music and dance are a staple of African culture, and their breadth and versatility will be on full display at the Wakanda Celebration. Experience the vibrant and diverse nature of live African and African-influenced music with musical performances from PitsRa YaMabala, Tina Kakolaki, Mike Phillips, and The Scrubs Band.

4:50pm-6:00pm: Luangisa Wearable Art Experience With PitsiRa Ragophala YaMabala & Live Band

6:30pm- 7:30pm: Gena Roots Band
